Alberta Street – Then and Now

New Culture and a New Look

Change is a given in our culture, and the changes in the Alberta neighborhood between NE 10th and NE 30th Avenues have created a new culture and a new look for a neighborhood that was in serious decline until the mid-1990s. On this walk, we’ll identify many of the historic buildings that still evoke a sense of place and provide the visual context for the Alberta Street of the 21st century.

We’ll meet at the Radio Room Cafe in the heart of hip Alberta Street, one of the many re-purposed buildings that have re-vitalized this neighborhood. We’ll end our one mile walk at the historic Alameda Theater (1926) now the Alberta Rose Theatre, a vibrant venue for live music.
