North Mississippi Avenue is part of the historic city of Albina, and has seen major changes over the past 100 years. This tour covers much of the “Mississippi Avenue Shopping and Restaurant District.” It features dozens of locally owned and operated businesses.
The variety and excellence of these shops puts Mississippi Ave in the top tier of unique Portlandesque neighborhoods. We’ll explore both the historic and trendy 21st century built environment of the district. We’ll return through the residential area and view the visual impact of “gentrification”.
